Far Cry 4 Weapons Debut Trailer

Ubisoft released a trailer recently detailing all the weapons you’ll be using on your Far Cry 4 adventure.

While most of the weapons shown seem to be your standard run of the mill gear, that auto-crossbow looks incredibly handy for stealthily taking down garrisons. The trailer works well as it shows off each weapon for it’s intended combat purpose through non-stop action gameplay. That and it’s grindhouse-esque music accompanying the whole thing.

Far Cry 4 is out the 18th of November for all major platforms.

AC Unity & Rogue Dive Get Story Trailers

Assassin’s Creed Unity (the 8th-gen only AC game), along with Assassin’s Creed Rogue (the 7th-gen only AC game) were both given a trailer dedicated solely to it’s story.

My first impression while watching the Unity trailer which seems to be echoed in the comments is that Arno Dorian’s origin story seems remarkably similar to Ezio’s from Assassin’s Creed 2. Ezio is arguably the most liked protagonist of the Assassin’s Creed series, so it’s not surprising if Ubisoft wants to create someone similar. Aside from that I’m still amazed by the amount of AI present on screen. I’m looking forward to seeing if a more powerful console can improve an already established series.

Assassin’s Creed rogue strikes me as the more interesting story as it decides to focus on the templars and if they’re the bad guys or not. While we’ve already toyed with being a templar in some of the latest AC games, we’ve never got a full game dedicated to it. The trailer sets up some interesting questions that haven’t been asked in the AC story before.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is out November 11th for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC while Assassin’s Creed Rogue is out the exact same date for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Gamecube Controller Support Limited for Wii U

Nintendo announced a couple months ago that they would be releasing a controller adapter to allow the use of GameCube controllers on the Wii U for the latest Smash Bros game. Recently a product description of the adapter appeared on the UK’s Nintendo Store stating that the adapter would work with any software supporting the Wii U pro controller meaning that a whole plethora of Wii U games would be playable by the GameCube controller.

However Nintendo has come out to state that the adapter will only work for Smash Bros and no other Wii U games. Disappointing to say the least as many Nintendo fans feel that the GameCube Controller is one of the best controllers Nintendo has ever created.

Super Smash Bros Wii U is out 21/11/14 with the GameCube adapter coming out 5/12/14.

Playstation Home Says Goodbye

Sony announced that the social-hub service Playstation Home will be closing down March 31st 2015 after running since December 2008. Sony will stop publishing new content on November 12th, and on March 31st the servers will be shut down. Sony has promised free rewards for those who stick with home after the updates stop.

Playstation Home was met with strange looks when presented to gamers back in 2008. Its more akin to something like Second Life or The Sims as most of the fun comes from customizing your character and apartment. However, I’ve been playing Home lately to mop up some trophies before they’re unobtainable and I see servers populated with players everywhere I go. While Playstation Home may have been a niche game, it’s nice to see it still attracted a community of players that supported it for so long.
