So, that is our core gameplay rumours taken care of. Now, it’s time for a little more about the OFFICIAL REVEAL. Activision released a trailer of just over 2 minutes, showing one of the missions, Aftermath. The official details we have are that the game is set in 2025, however, the story will also involve the Cold War from the 80s. Raul Menendez has been identified as the antagonist and is involved in both eras. Another Cold War has begun in the world of 2025.

China is in control of resources, rare resources and will not share their wealth. Mason (from Black Ops) does not feature, however, you will playing as a man called Section, Mason’s son.

As this game is set in the future, a wide range of new technology, modern weapons, large tanks and new explosives will feature in the game. This is a change from the usual style of Treyarch’s games, which are commonly set in the past, in contrast to the Modern Warfare series, which, obviously, feature modern weaponry.

Treyarch have revealed only a few details about the single player campaign. It is said that your choices in the campaign will change how the story will progress, such as the Heavy Rain (PS3) campaign. The more exciting announcement however, is the news that you will be getting more value for your money with new Strike Force Ops.

They allow you to take control of any soldier or play from a top-down perspective. It is assumed they will have some similarity to Special Ops from the Modern Warfare series. Zombies fans, do not fret, zombies will also be returning bigger and better. It will be built on the multiplayer system. Not much has been revealed on the zombies end of the things, expect more soon.

Multiplayer was not discussed, expect a separate release with multiplayer details in the future. With 4 modes, Single Player, Multiplayer, Zombies and Missions, it is clear Black Ops II is going to be an excellent addition to the Call of Duty series, and it seems they are finally showing some innovation.

We leave you now with the official trailer :
