The Playstation Vita software update version 2.10 went live in Europe this morning, bringing several OS-level improvements to the system. Sony are really beginning to focus on making the Vita better in every way possible by bringing the features owners want on the console and acquiring developers willing to create titles for the system in an effort to increase sales. Read on for more on the update…

The flagship feature of update 2.10 is the ability to store icons in folders. The Vita was previously limited to 10 pages of icons, now however, each icon on each of those 10 pages can be converted to a folder, each of which can hold 10 icons, however, the system oddly still only supports 100 icons total, as it did before.

Another feature Sony has introduced in 2.10 is the ability to watch some video content through the browser. Presumably, most popular methods of embedding video content into websites will be supported. The physical buttons on the Vita can now be used on more apps, including Near, the browser, email, Remote Play and Content Manager. HTML messages and adding multiple email addresses to a contact are now supported in email in addition to the physical button support.

Playstation Mobile content can now be updated using PS Plus’ automatic update feature, the inserted PS Vita card will be shown in the home screen info bar and there are a number of other general OS, software and security improvements introduced in the update. Head over to your PS Vita settings menu and hit Software Update to download the update now. Thanks for reading!
