In a show-stealing announcement, Microsoft have confirmed that Xbox 360 games will be playable Xbox One starting this autumn. Games will run natively on the Xbox One console free of charge once you own either a retail or digital copy of a supported game on the Xbox 360.

If you own a retail version, you simply need to insert the disc into the Xbox One console where you will be prompted to download the game to your console. If you own a digital version, the game will appear in the “Ready to Download” area of your console. Initially, over 100 games will be supported and Microsoft has promised that hundreds more will be added each month. Developers must approve this feature.
