Some PC gamers have branded Batman: Arkham Knight unplayable due to a bad PC port of the otherwise fantastic title. As a result of customers leaving bad reviews en masse, Warner Bros have suspended PC sales of the game while the team at Rocksteady fix the PC port, reportedly with assistance from nVidia.

After many complaints regarding the 30FPS lock on the PC version, missing rain shaders and ambient occlusion and, in general, terrible optimisation, the game has been suspending on Steam and retailers have been instructed to cease selling the title. Even on extremely powerful builds, the game regularly drops to framerates which border on unplayable, particularly when in the Batmobile. We are currently testing the game on a rig with an i5 4670K overclocked to 4.4GHz, 32GB of RAM, GTX 970 SLI and 3 SSDs in RAID0 and the game cannot maintain a steady 60FPS at 1080P after the 30FPS lock is modified in the game’s config files.

Additionally, the graphic options menu is extremely bare and doesn’t offer a lot of customisation. Below is a statement released by Warner Bros:

Dear Batman: Arkham Knight PC owners,

We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards. A patch has recently been released which restores the missing ambient occlusion and rain shaders while possibly also offering a slight increase in performance. SLI still fails to work with the game and other issues remain, however, Rocksteady have stated that they are working on the following fixes in future patches:

Support for frame rates above 30FPS in the graphics settings menu
Fix for low resolution texture bug
Improve overall performance and framerate hitches
Add more options to the graphics settings menu
Improvements to hard drive streaming and hitches
Address full screen rendering bug on gaming laptops
Improvements to system memory and VRAM usage
NVIDIA SLI bug fixes
Enabling AMD Crossfire
NVIDIA and AMD updated drivers

We have received a PS4 review copy of the game so we will be able to bring you a review of that soon!
